Call of the wild part 1

In this book, the main character is Buck, a big, 140 lb. dog who gets sold by the gardener. His new owner beats him and then they took him and used him as a huskey dog. During his journey so far, he gets in fights, gets mistreated, he gets a lot stronger, and then he attacked Spitz, a demented dog that was mean to the pack and always was in a fight. Buck was strong enough to kill Spitz and when he did, a pack of other dogs came and ate him.

  1. Kind of reminds me of junior high: everyone is out for themselves and when one person attacks a weaker person, others jump in the fray. What do you think it was in Buck that allowed him to kill another dog when he had never done that before?

  2. Do you think something we can learn from this book is that you live with what has happened to you, but always make the right choices. Things are not always the way we want them to be but we can learn from them by making right choices.

  3. I kind of think that Buck was just so fed up with Spitz that his anger made him stronger. I know that when I'm mad, I sort of like feel stronger and so I hit harder and so they cry harder. :( Yes, I think that just because something has happened to you, you don't need to make bad decisions.
