Tom Sawyer chapter 13
OK, sorry, you probably thought that you were going to read chapters 12-35 in my last post but, I figured that they were going to be too much words in one post so, I'm doing 2 chapters for every 1 post! Confusing, right? Chapter 13, The Young Pirates. Huck, Tom, and another boy, I don't remember who, ran away across the Mississippi river to a little fort to play pirates for a couple of days. When they got there, they ate some stolen food. Once they finished, they exploring. They found a stream, and a pool of fresh water. They stayed for a couple of days, and found out that the faster a fish is put on the grill after it is out of the water, the better it tastes. After about a week, Loneliness came in, and when they were about to go home, they saw a ferry boat, shooting cannons across the waters, to see if anybody had drowned. It took Tom a little bit to realize who drowned. The people are thinking that they drowned! This pleased them all, knowing that they were missed. Tom and Joe Harper (a.k.a other kid) wanted to learn how to smoke, so Huck made them some pipes, and they smoked. I might be mixing chapter 13 and 14 together, so bear with me. One night, when the homesickness was very strong, Tom snuck a boat out and visited his aunt. They (Joe's mom, Sid, Mary, and Aunt Polly) were talking about Tom and Joe. They were crying over how they did this and that, but wished they hadn't because they were just so sweet and now they are dead, and it's all their fault. Tom snuck under the bead, so close to Aunt Polly that he could touch her foot. When Mrs. Harper left, and Aunt Polly was asleep, Tom put a piece of wood on her dresser saying "We are not dead, we are just playing pirate's." Then kissed her, looked back down at the piece of wood, and decided not to leave it. That would spoil the surprise.
