In this chapter, Pip comes back from feeding the man and he find his sister preparing for the party. When the party started, his sister got 2 bottles of wine. As they were eating, everybody kept on telling Pip to be grateful and that the young were never grateful. He was always afraid that one person would go into the pantry and find out that he stole a lot of things so he grabbed hold of the table leg. Right when Mrs.Joe went to get pie out of the pantry, he ran as fast as he could so he wouldn't get in trouble. He opened the door and he saw the police. They had a pair of handcuffs in their hands. Pip was scared more than ever. As he went back into the house, he heard the cops saying that the cuffs were broken and they needed the blacksmith (Joe) to fix them. As he fixed them, they drank wine. When the first bottle was gone, Mr.Pumblechook grabbed the other bottle that he had given as a gift and poured it to the cops, too. Pip even got some. When Joe finished them, they all went to find the criminal. When they found him, he held another escapees. When they were about to leave, one man apologised for stealing food from Pip's food, which Pip had gotten himself.
